Procedures

Laser Resurfacing:
We are now living in a time of almost miraculous changes in medicine and laser technology is at the forefront of these changes. The latest laser for skin resurfacing is the Erbium YAG . This state of the art laser allows total skin resurfacing with topical anesthesia. This means that the procedure can be performed in an office setting and saves time and money. This laser treatment is char-free meaning that as the laser light passes over the skin one can see no crust. The years just seem to melt away before your eyes! There are also lasers available to remove those unsightly blood vessels from ones face and nose. This can now be done without purple bruises as used to be seen with the old laser technology. We are happy to answer your questions regarding how laser therapy can improve the state of your skin.

Photo Therapy:
While sun exposure can cause skin cancer and photoaging, ultraviolet rays can be therapeutic for certain types of skin conditions such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, mycosis fungoides and intractable itch. The Dermatology Center at the Palm Beach Medical Group has a state of the art phototherapy unit with UVA and UVB capabilities. Our phototherapy nurse has been specially trained to administer all of the light light treatments including PUVA. We also have a smaller phototherapy for hand and foot problems.

Grenz Ray:
Some forms of skin disease are very resistant to treatment especially problems with the hands, feet and scalp. Our Grenz ray unit provides us with another modality of treatment to control these stubborn problems. Grenz ray is a very superficial ray which penetrates only one millimeter into the skin and allows us to treat conditions which can’t be touched with creams. Treatments are usually given once a week for 4 or 5 weeks and results can be dramatic
